Monthly
- Back up any PLC/HMI program that changed, and record the date
- Review active and historical alarms
- Check cabinet temperature, fans and filters
- Look for moisture, corrosion or pests in enclosures
Quarterly
- Check processor and I/O diagnostics
- Check network switches, cabling and communications error counters
- Review HMI and SCADA historian health and disk space
- Review drive fault logs from the HMI or programming software
- Check UPS batteries on control power
Yearly
- Full hardware and firmware inventory, with lifecycle status
- Spare-parts review
- Test restoring a backup to a spare or simulator
- Review your hurricane-season plan (see our hurricane controls backup plan)
- Schedule any power-side inspection with your electrical contractor
